There are also ways to learn the crochet stitches by using the internet to learn. Then there may be those who do a combination of any of the three. Whichever way you choose to learn is up to you. The idea is that you have fun learning crochet stitches. The idea of crocheting is to have fun and be creative.
Depending on how you learn the crochet stitches may be how you know the name of the stitch. Most time the name will be the same from the books and people who teach you while other times it may vary a little bit. But the idea of learning the name is so that when you talk to others you can explain the type of stitches you are using along with understanding the patterns you are using.
